SAGAPONACK, N.Y. — There's lots of great things about designer show houses — the style, the colors, the gleam — but the best is that when a cheese puff tumbles onto the white silk sofa, it's somebody else's problem.
This year's Hampton Designer Showhouse preview party offered up lots of style, lots of gleam and yes, even a cheese puff or two.
Cathy di Montezemolo and Mildred Brinn were the honorary co-chairwomen of the show house, which took place July 19 in Sagaponack.
The home, a shingle-style house donated by Richard Gherardi and William Landberg of Sand Dollar Development, showcased the work of decorators, designers and craftsmen including Bob Bakes, Christopher Maya, Douglas Graento, Penelope Irwin, Jennifer Flanders, Kate Singer; Kevin Hart, Lilly Pulitzer, Katherine Newman, Jennifer Mabley and Austin Handler, Nancy Bozshardt, Susan Calabria, Regina Kraft, Robert Stilin, Gail Shields Miller and Sherrill Canet, Anne Tarasoff, Gail Tarasoff and Beth McNeill, the Alpha Workshops, Dianne Warner, Laurance Rassin, Moises Esquanazi and Associates, Monica Rich Kosan, Two World Arts, Florentine Craftsmen, and Whitmore Landscaping.
Mario Buatta was honorary chairman. Gary Crain was honorary design chairman, with James Alan Smith serving as decorative arts chairman.
Proceeds from the preview party and the run of the show house benefit Southampton Hospital, the only major medical facility serving the South Fork.
More than 450 guests attended the show house, which continues through Aug. 31.
