Frederic J. Berman, a dentist and charity board member, died July 19 from brain cancer. He was 61.
Dr. Berman was the husband of Eileen Berman, senior vice president at Lehman Brothers in Palm Beach.
Dr. Berman was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's dental school.
Until his illness forced him into early retirement, Dr. Berman had a thriving dental practice. He also was a teacher and author in that field.
He was dedicated to the Jewish community, serving as an executive board member of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County and chairman of its community planning and allocations committee.
He also was active at the Armory Art Center, where he spent many hours creating pottery to share with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, a former senior vice president of Northern Trust Bank, Dr. Berman is survived by his children, Sharon Berman Ghazarian, Marty Berman and Devin Krauss; a grandson; his son-in-law, Gary Ghazarian; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will take place at noon today at Star of David Funeral Chapel (formerly Menorah Gardens), 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, with Rabbi Moshe Scheiner officiating.
Shiva will take place at the home of Eileen Berman, with services starting at 7:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
The family suggests donations in Dr. Berman's memory to Dr. Neil Rothschild's research initiative the oncology counseling program at the Palm Beach Cancer Center Foundation, 1309 N. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401.
