The marriage of Joanne Handler of New York to John Rau of Palm Beach took place Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, on Martha's Vineyard.
The Rev. Dr. Susan M. Heafield, a Methodist minister, performed the ceremony at The Chilmark Community Church in Chilmark, Mass., with only family and a few close friends attending.
The bride wore a simple, white, knee-length dress by Michael Kors.
She is the daughter of Phyllis Handler of Manhattan and of the late Max Handler.
The bridegroom is the son of Margaret Rau of Dixon, Ill., and of the late John Rau.
The bride is a graduate of Skidmore College. She is a librarian at Trinity School in New York.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Hamilton College. He earned a law degree from New York University, where he was a John Norton Pomeroy Scholar and an editor of the Law Review.
He is senior vice president at Lehman Brothers in Palm Beach.
He is a trustee and secretary of the Palm Beach chapter of the American Cancer Society and a director and secretary of Ballet Florida.
They are living in Palm Beach.
