Hilda M. Folkman Bell of Palm Beach, died Friday, June 13, 2008. She was 95.
After graduating from Barnard College at age 19, she earned a master's degree in music.
A social worker during the 1930s, she also was active in the Junior Federation.
In 1940, she married Dr. Nathan Folkman, who died in 1956.
She was a member the board of Hamilton-Madison Settlement House in New York.
She owned a linen supply company. She became a member of the board of Maimondes Medical Center in Brooklyn, serving a five-year tenure as the first woman president of the board.
In 1974, she married Clarence D. Bell, who died in 2001.
Elected president of the Palm Beach Towers, she served from 1995 to 2005 and oversaw major renovations to the building. She also maintained ties to New York, serving as a trustee of Barnard College.
At Atria Senior Residence in New York, she founded and became the first president of the Residents' Council.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Folkman; two sons, Benjamin Folkman and Jonathan Folkman; and two grandsons, David Folkman Mazieres and Christopher Folkman.
No funeral services will be held.
