The marriage of Laura Brick Ballentine of New York to Jeffrey Barton Ferris, also of New York, took place Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Royal Poinciana Chapel.

The Rev. Robert S. Norris, pastor, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllen Ballentine Jr. of Palm Beach. Her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Ballentine Sr., moved to Palm Beach in the 1930s.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore her great-grandmother's wedding gown. The dress, of ivory lace, also was worn by her grandmother, her mother and her two sisters on their wedding days.

She wore a veil of silk illusion and carried a bouquet of roses, peonies and freesia.

Mrs. Christopher Eric Peter and Mrs. Alexander Lincoln Scott served as honor attendants for their sister. They wore gowns of robin's-egg blue with lime trim, and carried bouquets of spring flowers.

Bridesmaids were Jeanne Lane Ballentine, Dorcus Blake Beatty, Kristen Broadhead Castel, Christine Noel Demarie, Paige Elizabeth Dusault, Julianna Moore Ferris, Jane Banta Fisher, Cary Walthew Jackson, Gillian Somers Marziarz, Emily Judson Miller, Elizabeth Soule Murray and Victoria Davis Weil.

Junior bridesmaids were the bride's nieces, Carter Reynolds Ballentine and Lane Wheeler Ballentine.

The bridesmaids wore gowns matching the honor attendants' gowns.

Ashley Ballentine Scott, Elise Ballentine Scott, and Cecily Ballentine Peter, also nieces of the bride, were flower girls.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Barton Purdy Ferris of New York.

He was attended by his brother, Nathaniel Purdy Ferris, plus Peter John Ainsworth and Peter W. Huyck as best men.

Groomsmen were James MacAllen Ballentine III, Douglas Sawyer Davison, Lloyd Spencer Harrison, Charles Alfred Koons III, Timothy Weldon Lynch, Greg Matthew Schwartz, Elan Benjamin Singer and Evan Durell Stone.

James MacAllen Ballentine IV was ring bearer.

The bride is a graduate of the Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn., and of St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

She is a senior associate with Mish jewelers.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Andover Academy in Andover, Mass., and of Hamilton University in Hamilton, N.Y., where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity.

He is a director in the Active Credit Portfolio Management division of UniCredit Group Bank.

After a reception at the Bath & Tennis Club, the couple left on a wedding trip to Bora Bora.

They are living in New York.
